Households and the Economy: Economic Anthropology Perspectives
The pandemic has shown how our understanding of the economy is "disembedded" from households. Why is studying households important for our understanding of the economy? This views article draws from economic anthropology literatures to highlight the inseparability of production and social reproduction, point out less visible gender inequalities and discuss inter-household dynamics beyond the nuclear family.
