The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive overview of Malaysia’s care landscape, focusing on the evolving needs for care, the current supply of care services and the gaps in care provision. The study highlights that Malaysia’s rapidly ageing population and changing family structures increases the demand for care especially for children, elderly and persons with disabilities (PWD). Despite Malaysia’s efforts over the years, there are still gaps to accessible, affordable and quality care for all.

There needs to be focus on promoting the growth of the care market through increased investments, expanding care infrastructure particularly in rural and underserved areas, as well as developing a robust, cohesive and integrated framework for care across all sectors.
