Mikhail Rosli

Mikhail Rosli is an applied economist at Khazanah Research Institute. His research interests span labour economics, international trade, industrial organisation and competition policy, and industrial policy and structural transformation. He is particularly interested in how firms, markets, and public policy shape productivity, employment, wages and long-term economic development.

He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Padua, where his doctoral research examined economic development in colonial Malaya and Japanese industrialisation. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Padua. Before joining KRI, he was a Senior Researcher at the Southeast Asian Futures Initiative Centre, where he conducted research on economic and policy issues affecting Malaysia and Southeast Asia. His work combines applied economic analysis with historical and comparative perspectives to address contemporary policy questions.
