Our researcher, Dr. Jun-E Tan, recently participated as a key discussant at the roundtable, The Evolution of Tech Governance in Southeast Asia: Governing Emerging Technologies in Malaysia, held on 11 June 2026 and organised in collaboration with the Social and Economic Research Institute (SERI).

The discussion brought together representatives from government, industry, and think tanks to explore key policy issues shaping Malaysia’s technology governance landscape. Among the topics discussed were trust and safety, the role of clear regulations in supporting innovation, and ecosystem-based approaches to AI governance.

The insights shared contribute to ongoing conversations on how Malaysia can govern emerging technologies while fostering innovation, public trust, and digital economic development.
