What does AI mean for Malaysia’s artists and creatives?

On 30 July 2026, Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) convened a roundtable discussion with key stakeholders to obtain expert validation for the upcoming survey on artists and the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on Malaysia’s cultural and creative ecosystem. The survey forms part of the AI, Art and Connection (AIAC) study.

The roundtable brought together representatives from various sectors of the cultural and creative ecosystem, including festival directors, visual artists, musicians, filmmakers, researchers and copyright legal experts. The session focused on reviewing the survey items, ensuring their relevance and accuracy for artists and creatives alongside discussing the next steps for the study.
