Roundtable Discussion: It Takes a Village To Raise a Child

“It takes a village to raise a child, and a nation to shape their future.”

On 9 October 2025, Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) convened a roundtable dialogue, “It Takes a Village to Educate a Child,”. The session reflected on the timeless African proverb that underscores the shared responsibility of nurturing young minds towards a better future.

The roundtable discussion brought together educators, learners, policymakers, and changemakers to explore how families, schools, communities, and non-profits can collaborate to build a more inclusive and empowering educational ecosystem.

Discussions highlighted the importance of collective action in shaping the next generation, reminding us that education extends beyond classrooms, and that raising a child truly takes a village.
